The UK singles chart comes in many different sizes. The top 40 is used by the BBC for the Sunday afternoon Radio One show, and for Top Of The Pops. Music Week and dotmusic publish the top 75. NME.com goes one step further and publishes the top 100.
But, the Official UK Charts Company compiles a full top 200 singles every week. The different publishers simply choose to publish only the top-most 40, 75 or 100 entries from that chart. ChartsPlus is the only publication to carry the full top 200 singles chart.
Most weeks, a single needs to sell around 1500 copies to reach position 75. But to reach number 200, it needs to sell some 200-300 copies only. Many new acts sell between 200 and 1000 copies of their first few singles, before finally breaking into the mainstream charts. It's not because these first singles are no good. In many cases it is purely lack of media exposure that limits the number of copies sold.
ChartsPlus publishes the full top 200 singles every week, enabling you to see what new acts have released singles that didn't quite make it to the top 75. What's more, in the New Entries Spotlight section, we publish for all new entries in the top 200, a complete listing of all previous top 200 entries for that artist.
ChartsPlus, for the top 200 singles, every week.
